The Dreadnaught Marching Band

All members of the Lakeland H.S. Concert Bands will also participate in the award-winning Dreadnaught Marching Band.
The marching band performs at parades, pep rallies, football games, school events, and marching band competitions/festivals across the state. Harrison Arts School students also have the opportunity to march with us during football season.
Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:00pm - 8:30pm (additional rehearsals may be scheduled as needed, with up to two weeks advance notice). The only band students that are excused from participating in the marching band program are those who are active in Varsity Football or Varsity Cheerleading. All other members are expected to participate in all aspects of the marching arts program.
The Lakeland High School Band is made up of several ensembles that collectively form the band program as a whole. The Florida School Music Association forbids any student with a cumulative GPA below 2.0 from performing in any type of Music Performance Assessment, including marching, concert, and solo & ensemble festivals. All students are therefore expected to successfully maintain this minimum GPA in order to be productive members of the band program.
All band classes and activities at Lakeland High School are governed by the Polk County Fine Arts curriculum, and also by the Sunshine State Standards for secondary music classes.
